How to Improve Your Impact on the Planet with Style

Sustainable Fashion is becoming more and more popular, and chances are, if you are here, you already know (or care) a little bit about it. Sustainable fashion is a movement made up of activists, designers, producers, and consumers of fashion. The fashion industry globally produces 4-8 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in our atmosphere. The emissions are slowly breaking down our ozone layer and causing us and other creatures harm. As we see fast fashion brands like Shein and Temu take over our industry it is only getting worse. More and more of our products are made with toxic chemicals and are made to be consumed in mass quantities that eventually become disposable. Eventually, we overfill our landfills with clothing that will not break down, and if it is burned (which often it is!) it will seep chemicals into our atmosphere. As our climate anxiety worsens, and we experience the reality of climate change firsthand, more and more of us are navigating ways to lessen our individual impact. Sustainable fashion is one of the most powerful ways that we can make our carbon footprint smaller. And Lorrel is one of the first places you can start.

The largest impact of fashion is the mass production and overproduction of poorly made products. These things get tossed and force us to constantly buy more and more to stay on trend and fit into our daily lives. We are constantly told we need new things for every season, for every job, for every trip. But when we minimize our wardrobes with a smaller but better quantity of pieces that are unique but versatile we are less likely to overconsume. When we consume less we encourage the market to produce less and we waste hardly anything at all. This is where Lorrel and producing a capsule wardrobe is key. Laurel’s products are made with fabric that is Global Recycled Standard (GRS) Certified. Meaning the product itself is better for the environment and better for your body. Basically, it's not going to live for eternity in a landfill. Lorrel’s mission is to provide a wardrobe to customers made up of high-quality clothing that is unique and filled with style, but intentionally versatile. So you can have a wardrobe that can take you anywhere without sacrificing style and flare. So not only are you purchasing clothes that are more sustainable than the fast fashion alternative, but you are building a closet that will last and minimize the consumption and eventual waste of each individual consumer. Eventually lessening each of our carbon footprints, and hopefully, one day, lessening our impact on this beautiful planet.
